PRESS RELEASE

3rd October2004

Sign up if you love Swindon

Swindon Town Supporters Trust, TrustSTFC are again asking fans to sign a petition to Swindon Borough Council to encourage them to assist the club in finding a suitable location for a new stadium.

"It seems that the club have been unable to move forward with plans for developing a new stadium because of a lack of communication from the Borough Council", stated Trust Chairman Tony Norris.

"From our conversations with the club we are sympathetic to the clubs frustration at not being able to move the club forward to a secure future because of the Council’s lack of assistance in these plans. It seems the club are being forced to consider moving outside of the borough and the blame lays squarely at the Council’s door."

"If the council put as much energy in co-operating with the club as they did into ‘points scoring’ during the Shaw Tip debate, we would already have a site sorted" added Norris.

So if supporters want the club to remain in Swindon, the Trust are urging supporters to sign the petition, which already has over 1000 signatures. The petition is available on at the Trust Web Site www.truststfc.co.uk.
