TrustSTFC fans meeting

Meeting TrustSTFC fans meeting
Venue GW Bar, Station Road, Swindon
Date 11/12/2006
Time 7:30 - 10:30pm
Present TrustSTFC board, Mike Wilks, TrustSTFC members, STFC fans
Apologies for absence G. Stanley

MEMBERSHIP

Membership now stands at 770 but on line applications arrive daily, it was announced that in excess of 550 new members have signed in the last 5 weeks which is indicative of fans "voting with their feet" and a positive endorsement of the line the Trust have taken recently as well as perhaps discontent with the STFC board.

The Trust board stated that membership cards etc, may take a little time to be issued as, in the current climate, Consortium activity must take precedent over everything else. This was accepted by the floor.

The Trust is now the largest single fans' organisation, but it was stressed that all fans bodies compliment each other.

A time extension until March or possibly the end of the season of the "join for a quid" campaign was muted, and it was decided to e mail the current membership base to ask for approval.

Sponsorship of the Trust in any form (stationary, printing etc) should be encouraged and members are asked to contact Andy Tuck, through the Trust website for ideas or contacts to achieve this.

CONSORTIUM

The floor was opened to Mike Wilks who give a history on why the Consortium came into being and the rationale behind the set up.

Mike stressed that Bill Power and Phil Emmel are backing the Consortium and not visa versa as the whole ethos and thinking behind Bill’s involvement is that it is "fan led".

Mike stated that communications with Sir Seton Wills have been ongoing since the 2nd November, and that a very attractive "in principal" offer has been made to SSW that formed a structured exit strategy.

SSW retired from that meeting to take advice on the offer.

Mike reiterated the Consortium's desire to operate under normal non disclosure terms but that this had not be accepted to date.

This situation is ongoing.

ORANGE REVOLUTION

The floor was given to Town fan Rob Henderson who explained his idea for the "Orange Revolution".

Rob explained that the colour orange was a visual sign of peaceful protest that was used to great effect in the Ukranian people ridding themselves of an unwanted and corrupt government through peaceful protest, and that a visual demonstration collated and timed correctly would have more impact than other forms of protest. He added that we were 2nd in the league and should not protest in such a way to put the players off. It was also noted that orange is Paul Sturrock's favourite colour so the protest would also be a show of support for the manager.

He is asking that all fans either wear something orange or display something orange at the kick off on Saturday. A vote was taken by the floor to unanimously support this action.

It was with this in mind that the Trust are calling for volunteers to help Rob out with the "Orange revolution" on Saturday 16th December. If anybody can help please meet at the Trust office at 1.00pm.

GROUND REDEVELOPMENT

Our new proposals were due to be published in September, these have been withheld on the opinion of the Trust board. However we are intending that these will be published shortly and will open up a framework for discussion.

FUNDRAISING
