Dear Sir,
Re: Swindon Town Supporters Trust
Hopefully you will by now be aware of the fact that a group of Swindon Town F.C. supporters have decided to form an official
trust in the name of TrustSTFC.
I contacted your colleague Ian Thompson a couple of weeks ago and also dropped off some written information regarding similar
trusts for his perusal.
He informed me that he would pass the documentation on to you so that you could familiarise yourself with the movement, which
I hope he has done by now. Please accept my apologies for being ignorant of council protocol by not writing to your good self
in the first instance.
At the time of writing we have already held a public meeting and now have a mandate to form an official supporter's trust,
which we plan to launch prior to the beginning of the next football season.
We plan to have further talks with the representatives of 'Supporters Direct' - the agency appointed by the Government to
oversee and advise upon / assist with funding the movement - and have also requested talks with the current owners of
the football club.
I now write to respectfully request that we are granted an early opportunity to meet with yourself and your colleagues to
discuss the proposed trust's role as a democratic, community based entity.
One of the trust's aims is to establish an inclusive and stable body which is representative of the whole community, and to
that end we feel that Swindon Borough Council has a pivotal role to play in the scheme
We would welcome an early opportunity to make ourselves known to you and to enter into discussions about the possibilities of
a Supporters Trust in Swindon.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.
Yours faithfully
A. G. Ratcliffe. - Trust working party member
