What are the proposals?

  • Build within existing footprint, encroaching slightly on car park
  • Replace car park with multi-storey
  • 20,000m2 of additional space to be used for mixed community, commercial, residential
  • Some of new space reserved for club’s revenue stream
  • Rebuild some of the current facilities from the Oasis/Link to create a full-fledged leisure/sports site at the gateway to the town centre
  • Enhance existing green space and childrens’ play areas
  • Retain/enhance athletics track; all-weather training pitches; multi-sports centre and squash courts if cricket club can move
  • Ground capacity increased to 20,000
  • 100 key worker housing flats built into side of ground
  • Luxury/prestige apartments built into corners
  • Hotel development (separately funded) at front facing over gateway location
